Why I built a crypto tool that never says "buy" or "sell"

2026-10-02

Since 2020, I tried to beat the market.

I built trading bots. I tested momentum strategies, rotation systems, funding-rate arbitrage. I moved from crypto to forex and back — trend-following, carry, combinations of both. Six serious strategies, each one backtested properly: out-of-sample, across market cycles, with honest drawdown analysis.

And I killed every single one of them.

Not because I gave up. Because the data told the truth. A strategy that looks brilliant on one period falls apart on another. A smooth equity curve hides a crash that hasn't happened yet. "Low-risk, copyable, profitable" — that combination isn't lying around waiting to be found. If it were, everyone would have it.

That was a hard lesson, learned over years. But it was also a gift: I learned it on paper, not with real money — mine or anyone else's.

The pivot

Somewhere in those years, I realized I was asking the wrong question. I didn't actually want a magic bot. What I wanted was to stop feeling lied to.

Every crypto tool I used was shouting at me. "STRONG BUY." "This coin will 100x." "Score: 96/100." None of them told me why. None of them admitted what they didn't know. And when their calls were wrong — which they often were — they just moved on to the next loud prediction.

I was tired of it. So I built the opposite.

What Sightglass does

Sightglass reads a coin and tells you what is — never what to do.

That's it. No buy. No sell. No score. Just the facts, laid out plainly.

Because here's what I believe: a good tool doesn't make your decision for you. It gives you an honest picture and trusts you to decide. Facts, not a call — the decision stays yours.

No hidden anything

Sightglass is free to use. The risk information — volatility, drawdowns, behaviour — will always be free, because I won't put a price on the part that protects you. There are no ads. There are no secret signals waiting behind a paywall.

I built the tool I wished existed when I was staring at those "STRONG BUY" screens. If that sounds like something you've wanted too, take a look.
